Car Crime Survey

Car crime should not be allowed to blight the lives of honest hard-working families in North Grangetown - but we know the problems are so bad that people have even stopped reporting incidents to the police. We cannot allow thieves and vandals to win. Having a wing mirror smashed off or side window broken may be seen as minor crimes by the authorities, but when it has happened to you five or six times in a year, it becomes very costly indeed, and increasingly distressing for the victims. The Grangetown Labour Team will be out tonight (weather permitting)delivering a Car Crime Survey in the area around Court Road and Cornwall Street, but we know that problems extend right across Grangetown, so if you would like you views to be taken into account, please get in touch - we can do the survey over the phone, or pop round if you prefer. It will only take a couple of minutes, but your views will help make a strong case to the police for more action locally, it is important to make our voices heard on this issue. Our campaign for a stronger police presence needs your support - please get in touch.

About Grangetown

The ward of Grangetown lies in the South of Cardiff and is bordered on three sides by the rivers Ely and Taff. The boundary to the north of the ward runs along the main east/west railway line, and ends at the bus depot on Sloper Road.

Grangetown developed during the 19th Century together with Cardiff Docks and the growth of the city as a whole based around the export of anthracite coal to all parts of the globe. Much of the housing is terraced streets, although there is a great deal of new housing, mostly modern apartments either already built, under construction or awaiting planning permission in the south of the ward as a consequence of the Cardiff Bay barrage and the waterfornt regeneration it has brought.
